I have encountered three Generations of my Loved Ones who were affected by Alzheimer's and Dementia. I realized that my Purpose is to Help my Loved Ones and others who are suffering from Alzheimer's/Dementia. I chose to start a non-profit in honor of both my parents who I lost to Dementia. Being an only child and the sole caregiver, it was heart-wrenching to watch my parents decline before my eyes. Finding out that my mother’s youngest sister passed away from dementia as well as my grandmother and now her youngest brother was recently diagnosed with it as well. Knowing that the age that which people can be diagnosed is lowering, I wanted to bring awareness to this disease that can begin as early as in their 50s. After my mother was diagnosed, I reached out to others who had gone through the experience of having to care for a loved one with Dementia. During this time, I learned that many Elderly Seniors suffering from Dementia were becoming homeless. In addition, these Seniors do not have access to healthcare. This was the inspiration for establishing my Foundation; SDS Helps. My goal is to provide housing and essential services for our Seniors who are suffering from this degenerative disease.
Food distribution is an important part of helping. We take donations from local businesses and use them to fight hunger. Help us connect with donors and with people in need.
We endeavor to offer a vast array of Help and we recognize that it is necessary to offer assistance through other sources. The Riverside County Office on Aging is there to make a real difference.
Our community is full of people who want to help. We work to help the people providing services with the people who need them. Come connect with people in new ways.
